Grass Land is first seen in Kirby's Dream Land 2, where it is the first of the Rainbow Islands visited by Kirby. On the Super Game Boy, the level uses a primarily yellow palette. Grass Land's intro shows Rick and Parasol Kirby walking into each other, teaming up and using Rick's Parasol power as they collide.

Stage 1

The first stage of the entire game, Grass Land's initial stage is short and simple with only basic enemies and challenges. Kirby begins it at the far left side of a horizontal area, which is mostly flat apart from a tall hill near the beginning, which can only be passed by flying or using the Star Block in front of it as a platform. A door at the far right end takes Kirby to the next region, which is of a similar structure, but more elevated at the beginning.

At two points, Kirby can drop through a platform; a small star is located beneath the first one, while the second one covers a door. Entering it takes Kirby to a small room containing only Star Blocks, a Health Drink and Floaty the Drifter, which can be swallowed for its Copy Ability. Not far from this doorway, the elevated portion of the section ends abruptly, the rest of the region being situated at a lower level. Besides a few enemies, this part houses a pyramid and two small towers made of Star Blocks, as well as a few more blocks floating in the air. A stairway at the right end leads to the goal door.

Stage 2

Directly at the beginning of this stage's first section, Kirby encounters a Flamer, enabling him to pick up the Burning ability. To the right, past a few basic enemies and one more Flamer, a thick wall of Star Blocks is blocking the way. Once Kirby destroys it, he reaches a door on the other side, which leads to a fight againt Efreeti, the first Mid-Boss of the game. Defeating him frees Rick, the only Animal Friend that Kirby can team up with at this part of the game.

The following area is a horizontal stretch of flat hills and Star Blocks, where several Floaty the Drifters can be found, some of them held by Waddle Dees. There is a small depression surrounded by steep cliffsides near the rightmost end of it, past which the goal door lies at the foot of a downwards slope.

Stage 3

At the start of this stage, two brides are located above the ground, which enemies are walking on; passing these causes a Waddle Dee to appear behind Kirby, which runs towards him unless he turns around to face it. A small distance further to the right are two bottomless pits, which cause Kirby to immediately lose a life and his Animal Friend should he fall into either of them. Past a small stairway, which a Flamer is travelling on, a small pond is located, a Maxim Tomato resting on its floor. The entrance to the next region is directly to the right of it, hidden by a small tower of Star Blocks.

The second part of the stage is the first vertical section of the game. To pass it, Kirby must climb up a number of bridges and hill platforms, all of which can be jumped through from below. At the very top, a door is located, which is guarded by a Crack-Tweet; entering it takes Kirby to the Rainbow Drop room of Grass Land. Leaving the room through the door at the opposite side brings the pink hero to the final area of the stage.

This region once again scrolls horizontally. At the beginning, another Maxim Tomato is found, as well as two long ledges on top of the ground that run into a solid wall; Kirby can jump on top of these from below, but remaining at the bottom enables him to collect a small star. Further to the right, several more ledges await, the goal door resting on the rightmost one of these. In order to reach it, Kirby must either fly or climb towards it by leaping from platform to platform.

Boss: Whispy Woods

The boss located behind the level's final door is Whispy Woods. Kirby faces him on a small, flat patch of land, where the large tree remains stationary on the right side and can be defeated with a Copy Ability or by spitting his apples back at him. Like in most of the game's boss fights, the screen does not scroll into any direction.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

The level is visited again in Kirby's Dream Land 3, where it is the first part of Pop Star Kirby ventures to. Here, the its landscape is shown to be much more diverse than in Kirby's Dream Land 2, including features such as caves and thickly forested areas, effectively combining its concept with that of the Big Forest level of the previous game.
